And the winner is...

After a whirlwind weekend in Michigan last week [Mom and I traveled from Three Oaks (down by New Buffalo and the Indiana state line) all the way up to Frankfort (half an hour from Traverse City)], Nick and I have finally decided on a location for our wedding! Frankfort, Michigan!! The Harbor Lights Resort has a private beach that we can use for the ceremony for free!! (That is RIGHT in our price range! =) And just across the bay in the small village of Elberta there is an old life saving station that we can rent for the reception. Actually, we may rent a tent and have the reception on the lawn outside the actual building. We peered through the windows and it doesn't look like we could seat more than 60 people inside and still have a dance floor. We really don't want a huge wedding, but there will definitely be more than 60 people there (I hope!! We'll be inviting more than that, so hopefully people will come! =)

We don't have a date set in stone yet, but we're looking at Friday Sept. 18, 2009. Since we have friends and family traveling from as far away as California, Australia and England, we thought it'd be nice to have the wedding Friday night and then still have all day Saturday to spend with everyone before they head for home on Sunday. I'll let everyone know for sure as soon as we decide. We may also send out Save the Date cards.

You can check out the resort (they even have a live webcam!) at www.harborlightsresort.net

On Saturday, the day I flew in to Michigan, my best friend (and matron of honor!) Dana met up with us for the day.

While in Michigan, we also got to meet up with my friend Traci (Bloom) Howard. Our grandmothers were maids-of-honor in each others weddings! We hadn't seen each other in close to 11 years!

And what weekend in Michigan would be complete without blue moon ice cream?!?! Mom and I stopped at the place her family used to go when they vacationed in Ludington... (Of course, I DID go to Uncle Ray's back in Fenton and got Superman too!)
